Nigeria International Maritime Summit to hold in October
The maiden edition of the Nigeria International Maritime Summit (NIMS) has been scheduled to hold on October 5 and 6 in Lagos.
Contained in a statement on Wednesday in Lagos, NIMS called it a “whole-of-value-chain business event for operators, service providers, regulators and development organisations in Nigeria’s maritime industry.”
The organisers also disclosed that the event would include a conference, exhibition and an industry gala, “creating a first-rate promotional, business development and policy activation opportunity.”
Promoted by an industry-wide coalition of the Nigerian maritime private sector, NIMS also draws on support by key government bodies.
NIMS also disclosed that a maritime lawyer, Mfon Ekong-Usoro had been elected as pioneer Chairman of the NIMS Governing Board, while Aminu Umar was elected to chair the event’s advisory council.
Other members of the Governing Board are Greg Ogbeifun, Margaret Orakwusi and Emeka Akabogu.
The members of the NIMS advisory council are Princess Vicky Haastrup, Otunba Kunle Folarin, Olumide Sofowora SAN, John Oguntokun, Jean Chiazor-Anishere SAN, Bolaji Akinola, Capt. Tajudeen Alao, and Mahmud Bamanga Tukur.
