Life At Sea: A tough crew change experience
From a lockdown experience: Flag States should mandate shipping coys to have better crisis management plans
On our ‘Life At Sea’ series today, Female Nigerian Seafarer, Uchechi Okoronkwo, who is a 3rd engineer on board a vessel, shares experience of coping skills she developed while at sea during the Covid-19 lockdown.
As hopes began to rise for seafarers that they could begin to leave their ships to go home to loved ones, Uchechi got excited. But, that turned into anxiety as promises of ‘next week’ became the regular.
From that experience, Uchechi wants Flag States to take on a very important assignment that would help seafarers better in future crisis situations, should one arise.
