FOC East presents Commendation Award to Commander Reference Hospital, others
The Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral David Adeniran, recently presented Commendation Award to deserving personnel who have distinguished themselves in the discharge of assigned responsibility in the Eastern Naval Command.
The Flag Officer Commanding, Eastern Naval Command, during the presentation ceremony reiterated that the award was in line with the Strategic Directives of the Chief of the Naval Staff Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas.
He said that the Chief of the Naval Staff always emphasized rewarding of personnel who distinguished themselves in the discharge of their respective duties.
He said that it was not only about punitive measures on personnel for wrong doing, but that the reward system also provides for encouraging the hardworking personnel in the performance of assigned responsibilities. He likened that to the ‘carrot and stick’ approach of personnel management.
The Commander Reference Hospital Calabar, Surgeon Commander Uchenna Okeke, while receiving the award, thanked the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command for the recognition of her hard work and dedication to duty.
She pledged to give her continued commitment to promote medical services on behalf of the Nigerian Navy.
A total of 22 officers and ratings benefited from the Commendation Award.
The awards include one gold medal to OSNT Mohammed Mubarack for display of gallantry and marksmanship which resulted to the death of a 5-man robbery gang and dispossessing the robbery gang of their weapons, while fleeing from stolen cash from Udyking Petrol Station in Calabar.
Other awardees are seven officers with silver medals and 14 ratings with bronze medals.
